Been traveling to Florida frequently with my husband for his work. Generous friends lets us stay at their condo in Pompano Beach, right on the water's edge. I can sit on their terrace for hours watching the sky and sea change.

Gray Day was inspired by a ferry boat ride on the Long Island Sound one rainy summer day. The mood was so calming and serene that I tried to capture that feeling in this painting.

Back in Pompano Beach, waking in the night, looking out at the sea. Is it pitch black? Are there colors? Peaceful. Mysterious.
